Aluminum profiles can be divided into 9 series from 1xxx to 9xxx based on the different content of aluminum components and the different ratios of the added alloy components.
1xxx series representatives: 1050, 1060, 1070, and 1000 series aluminum plates, they are also called pure aluminum plates. Among all series, the 1000 series belongs to the series with the largest aluminum content, and the purity can reach more than 99%.
2xxx series representatives: 2A16 (LY16), 2A12 (LY12), 2A06 (LY6). They have higher hardness, among which the copper content is the highest, about 3-5%. 2000 series aluminum plates are aviation aluminum materials and are not commonly used in conventional industries.
3xxx series representatives: 3003, 3003, and 3A21. It can also be called rust-proof aluminum plate. Our production technology of 3000 series aluminum plate is relatively excellent. The 3000 series aluminum plate is made of manganese as the main component, with a content between 1.0-1.5.
4xxx series representatives: 4A01 and 4000 series aluminum plates, which have higher silicon content. Usually the silicon content is between 4.5-6.0%. It belongs to construction materials, mechanical parts, forging materials and welding materials; it has low melting point and good corrosion resistance.
5xxx series representatives: 5052, 5005, 5083, 5A05 series. In China, the 5000 series aluminum plate is one of the more mature aluminum plate series.
6xxx series representatives: 6061, which mainly contains magnesium and silicon. Therefore, it combines the advantages of the 4000 series and the 5000 series. It is a cold-processed aluminum forged product that is easy to coat and has high strength and strong corrosion resistance. The 6xxx series are currently the most frequently used products on the market.
7xxx series representatives: 7075, mainly contains zinc. It also belongs to the aviation series. It is an aluminum-magnesium-zinc-copper alloy. It is a heat-treatable alloy. It is often used in the manufacture of aircraft structures, high-stress structural parts and mold manufacturing that require high strength and strong corrosion resistance.
The more commonly used 8xxx series is 8011, which belongs to other series. Most of the aluminum plates whose main function is to make bottle caps are also used in radiators. Most of them are aluminum foil, which is rarely used.
The 9xxx series is a standby series, and the International Aluminum Plate and Strip Federation specifically stated that it is in response to the emergence of aluminum plates containing other alloying elements.
The “Nonferrous Metals Industry Development Plan (2016-2020)” compiled and released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology pointed out that the main line of development of China’s nonferrous metals in the next five years is “structural reform and expansion of market demand.” Judging from the “13th Five-Year Plan” development plans in the fields of automobile manufacturing, rail transit, aerospace and other fields that are closely related to the aluminum industry, aluminum is the non-ferrous metal that has the best conditions to expand market demand, which also provides high-end aluminum companies with a development opportunity.
